What can I expect at my visit?

You can expect to be treated with dignity and respect. We will do our best to make you as comfortable as possible while waiting. We will respect your privacy and keep you informed about your medical condition. We will provide the following care, as we have funds and/or volunteers available:

  • Medical exams and follow up

  • Referrals to specialists if appropriate

  • Medication assistance

  • Laboratory testing and other diagnostic testing

  • Assistance with other needs


What we expect from you?

We expect you to treat our staff & volunteers with respect and extend patience as we work to meet your needs. To serve you well, we expect your cooperation to provide the necessary documentation and that all information given, whether written or verbal, is accurate (i.e., information regarding any communicable disease you have previously been diagnosed with; school forms that need to be completed; insurance documentation, etc.)


Do I have to have medical insurance to be seen?

Medical Insurance is not a requirement. You will be treated whether you have insurance or not. However, if you have insurance available we will request a copy of your insurance card and we will submit a statement for payment.

Will I need to pay a co-pay?

No

What will happen to my medical records?

Records will be kept electronically.

What is the privacy policy of the MMU?

Your health information will be kept private in a secure electronic health record. Any paper documents will either be kept in a locked cabinet or shredded.

What type of medical professional will I see at my visit?

Our medical staff is all volunteer so depending on what day you come you will be seen by the volunteers who are available on that day. We currently have medical doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Behavioral Health Clinicians, RN’s and MA’s who are volunteering.

What diagnostics will be provided?

Pregnancy tests, glucose check, urinalysis, and strep tests.

What are my options when the MMU is closed?
