Celebrate the Milestones

Webster defines a milestone as an important event or achievement in life, a significant point of development.[1] When I think of milestones I think of college graduation, career promotion, or your children reaching that point in life where they're responsible adults and they move out.

I think that milestones mark our lives and the Bible says, Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and import duties, and give respect and honor to all to whom it is due.[2] This past Sunday I asked Andy Lopez to stand as we recognized his 1,000 win as the head baseball coach at the University of Arizona. Very few coaches experience 1,000 wins, but more than that, it's important to recognize the champion he is for the kingdom of God. He is a husband and father, and is winning the hearts of young men every day with his character and integrity lived out in Christ.

If you haven't celebrated a milestone in a while in your own life, I challenge you to do so. What is the next goal you have set to achieve? Have you asked God to help you hit the mark? And when you do, celebrate with Him and others that are important to you in your life.
